Bitcoin Magazine, a premier publication dedicated to the coverage of Bitcoin, was founded on November 11, 2012. Bitcoin Magazine was founded by two early bitcoin enthusiasts Vitalik Buterin and Mihai Alisie. Buterin was a young writer with a passion for Bitcoin, contributing to a blog that caught the attention of Alisie. Alisie, residing in Romania, recognized Buterin’s talent and proposed the idea of starting a magazine that would focus exclusively on Bitcoin and its potential impact on the world.

The magazine was co-founded by a team that included Buterin, Alisie, Matthew N. Wright, Vladimir Marchenko, and Vicente S. It began as a print edition based in South Korea, setting a precedent as the first serious publication dedicated to Bitcoin. Buterin, still a university student at the time, took on the role of head writer, dedicating 10-20 hours per week to the magazine as a side project.

Bitcoin Magazine quickly became more than just a publication; it was a platform for the bitcoin movement, providing insights, analysis, and commentary on the rapidly evolving world of digital currencies. It served as a bridge between the technical complexities of bitcoin technology and the growing community of enthusiasts, investors, and entrepreneurs interested in the space.

Over the years, Bitcoin Magazine has expanded its reach, transitioning from its initial print format to a comprehensive digital presence. Today, Bitcoin Magazine is owned and operated by BTC Inc in Nashville, Tennessee, and continues to be a leading voice in the cryptocurrency conversation.
