El Salvador launches nationwide bitcoin education programs for schools

On September 7, 2023, El Salvador embarked on a journey to integrate Bitcoin education into its national curriculum. This initiative was a collaboration between the Ministry of Education of El Salvador and the non-governmental organization Mi Primer Bitcoin (My First Bitcoin), along with the support of Bitcoin Beach.
 

The program was announced as part of the country’s ongoing efforts to embrace Bitcoin, which had been adopted as legal tender two years prior, marking a significant step in El Salvador’s commitment to becoming a global leader in bitcoin education. The training for the pilot program began on this date, targeting 150 public school teachers from 75 schools across the nation.
 

These educators were to be equipped with a foundational knowledge of Bitcoin, using the curriculum developed by the Ministry of Education and the educational resources provided by Mi Primer Bitcoin. The program aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of Bitcoin, ensuring that the future generations of El Salvador are well-versed in the digital currency that had become a part of their country’s economy.
