Man orders Bitcoin miner from Amazon and receives Boss Baby DVD instead
In an unusual turn of events, Ichim Bogdan Cezar from Stoke in the UK ordered a Bitcoin miner from Amazon and ended up receiving a DVD of the animated film 'The Boss Baby’. This incident occurred in November 2017.
Cezar had ordered a Bitcoin miner worth £3149.99 (approximately $4503.32) from a third-party seller on Amazon called Minifigures Direct Ltd. However, when the parcel arrived on December 5, instead of the Bitcoin miner, it contained a DVD of 'The Boss Baby’.
Upon contacting Minifigures Direct, Cezar was told it was a mistake, but the actual product never arrived. The seller then went AWOL, leaving Cezar in a frustrating situation.
Amazon initially stated they were unable to help as the product had been signed for and advised Cezar to contact Royal Mail1. However, after several claims, Amazon agreed to refund him on December 29. Cezar finally received his money back almost a month later, on January 20.
Interestingly, Cezar was not the only person who experienced such an issue. Other customers also reported that their orders failed to arrive, and one person even claimed they were sent a Sharpie Marker instead of the Bitcoin miner they ordered.
