On June 3, 2014, the Grammy award-winning rapper 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, made history by becoming the first famous artist to accept Bitcoin as payment for his music. The move occurred with the release of his album “Animal Ambition,” and it allowed fans to purchase the album using the digital currency.

The album “Animal Ambition” was sold for a fraction of a Bitcoin, and 50 Cent reportedly accumulated about 700 bitcoins from album sales. Given the value of Bitcoin in 2014, this amounted to approximately $460,000 at the time. However, as the value of Bitcoin soared in the following years, 50 Cent’s Bitcoin stash grew to be worth millions of dollars.
