In 2016, the Bitcoin network achieved a significant milestone by exceeding one Exa Hash per second (EH/s) in terms of hash rate. This remarkable computational power corresponds to approximately 10.8 ZettaFLOPS—an impressive feat for a decentralized network. To put it into perspective, this hash rate made the Bitcoin network approximately three-hundred-thousand times more powerful than the world’s fastest supercomputer, the Tianhe-2, which operated at around 34 PetaFLOPS.
