Golix, Zimbabwe’s first and largest cryptocurrency exchange, introduced the country’s inaugural Bitcoin Automated Teller Machine (ATM).

The machine was a two-way ATM, allowing users to both buy Bitcoin using US dollars and sell Bitcoin for US dollars. It was also preloaded with US dollar bills.

Golix placed its first Bitcoin ATM at its offices along First Street in Harare. Zimbabwe’s Bitcoin ATM was a rarity worldwide. At the time, there were less than 70 other countries globally with similar machines.
