The first Bitcoin billboard advert was spotted in San Francisco, USA

The first Bitcoin billboard was announced in the San Francisco Bay Area in January 2014. A project called Arisebitcoin.com put up 40 billboards in various locations around the Bay Area. The billboards read, “The revolution has started… Where do you stand?” and were accompanied by a Bitcoin logo, a QR code, and the URL: arisebitcoin.com. 

The goal of the project was to promote Bitcoin and create public awareness. The billboards sparked various reactions from both the tech and non-tech communities in the Bay Area.
