The First Major Retailer Begins Accepting Bitcoin
On the 9th January 2014, Overstock became the world's first major retailor to accept Bitcoin payments. The integration was made possible thorugh a partnership with Coinbase.
After 21 hours Overstock had 780 Bitcoin orders that accounted for $124,000 in sales. That figure amounts to around 4% of daily revenues, based on the firm's 2012 figures.
