The publication of the first physical copy of Bitcoin Magazine was on May 2, 2012. The magazine was co-founded by Vitalik Buterin and Mihai Alisie.

Bitcoin Magazine emerged from the collaboration of these individuals who were deeply involved in the nascent Bitcoin community. Buterin, who later became known for creating Ethereum, was at the time a university student and a prolific writer with a passion for Bitcoin. He joined forces with Alisie, who was based in Romania, to create a publication that would serve as a serious and informative platform for all things related to Bitcoin.

The magazine began as an online publication, but the demand and interest in high-quality, curated content on bitcoin led to the creation of a print edition. The first issue was printed in South Korea and was distributed to subscribers worldwide, including availability at Barnes & Noble and other bookstores.
