The Oakland Athletics, also known as the Oakland A’s, began accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment for full season suite tickets on Monday, March 15, 2021. This made them one of the first teams in Major League Baseball to accept Bitcoin. The offer was available through Opening Day of the 2021 regular season.

The Oakland Athletics, also known as the A’s, made history in the realm of sports and bitcoin by becoming the first Major League Baseball team to accept Bitcoin as payment. This landmark decision was announced in March 2021.

The A’s officially announced their acceptance of Bitcoin payments on March 15, 2021. Fans were given the opportunity to purchase a full-season six-person suite at the Oakland Coliseum for the price of one Bitcoin. The cost of a suite was set at $64,800 or one Bitcoin, which, at the time, was approximately $56,155.

The A’s President, Dave Kaval, expressed excitement about the fluctuating price of Bitcoin, adding a unique aspect to the purchase experience. The offer was a temporary measure, with the Bitcoin payment option available until April 1, 2021. The first sale for a full-season suite for Bitcoin was made to Voyager Digital, a crypto-asset platform based in New York City.
