An anonymous project known as Project Spartacus has undertaken the task of inscribing WikiLeaks' Afghan War logs onto the Bitcoin blockchain. This effort leverages the Ordinals protocol, which allows arbitrary data to be permanently added to the Bitcoin blockchain, making it immutable and censorship-resistant.

The Afghan War logs, originally released by WikiLeaks in 2010, provided a stark, unfiltered look at the realities of the war in Afghanistan, revealing information that contradicted official narratives. The logs were a significant element in the charges against Julian Assange, who faces extradition to the United States.

Project Spartacus utilizes the decentralized and immutable nature of Bitcoin to ensure that these war logs remain accessible and tamper-proof. By inscribing the logs onto the blockchain, the project aims to protect the information from being erased or altered, thus preserving a crucial piece of historical data for future generations. This initiative also includes a public interface allowing individuals to inscribe the logs themselves and offers a donation mechanism to support related causes, such as the Freedom of the Press Foundation and Reporters Without Borders.
